MORE INFO

St. John’s Wort is a beautifully yellow sunny flower that offers us many medicinal properties and is well known for its antidepressant and mood-lifting properties. According to Salvatore Battaglia, studies have shown that hypericin (the principal active constituent of St. John’s Wort) is a potent anti-viral drug, especially against enveloped viruses. The oil is an anti-inflammatory and used topically for mild burns, bruises, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, wounds, sores and ulcers.

It has also been used traditionally for nerve pain such as neuralgia and sciatica. A recent study, published in the Journal of Clinical Aromatherapy, found that St. John’s Wort oil is useful for the treatment of neuralgia, sciatica, and muscular rheumatism. The study also indicated that the use of St. John’s Wort infused oil as a carrier enhances both the analgesic and the anti-inflammatory effects of essential oils used with it.

Inshanti’s St. John’s Wort oil is double infused with triple the amount of St. John’s Wort blossoms macerated (highly concentrated) in olive oil made from fresh flowering tops and buds resulting in a beautiful rich red color.  hough this herbal remedy is a simple one, it is very time consuming and requires a good amount of harvested flowers, which would explain why these oils are not cheap. The saying, “the reder the better” is true for this oil to be of the best quality and purity.

Without using any drug or administering any injection, this oil had been known to cure wounds for centuries. The oil is a extract from an herb known at St. John’s Wort which for ages had gained the reputation of being a wound healer. It became popular as a wound therapy during the Christian crusade when it was being applied to fresh wounds from swords.

Inshanti’s Herbal Infused Oils (macerated oils) start with a first-press certified organic base of olive oil. Then I add fresh herb blossoms. (I used fresh certified organic herbs because they are stronger and more potent than dried). The oil and herb mixture is gently warmed for three weeks, then I decant and strain the mixture. This is done twice for St. John’s Wort, which is considered a double-infusion. Our oils are saturated with the healing properties of the herbs; many oils on the market use a ratio of one pound of herb to a gallon of oil. I use 2-3 pounds per gallon. I personally do all the preparation including chopping and bruising of the herbs. It is a very long, time-consuming process but the end results are amazing!

Inshanti’s infused oils are some of the strongest on the market. These oils are gorgeous and range in color from a deep dark red of the St. John’s Wort to a beautiful, golden yellow of the Calendula. Compare our colors to other oils on the market, most of which are pale greens. Open a bottle of Inshanti oils and you will be rewarded with the fragrance of the herb, not the smell of olive oil.

I work with a farmer who grows these herbs for me, and they are certified organic. They are grown with loving care. The herbs are harvested and “overnighted” to me to retain their freshness.

It must be understood that infused herbal oils are not pure essential oils. Pure essential oils are extracted from the plant with steam distillation, are diluted prior to use, and used in much smaller dosage than are infused oils. The olive oil extracts the chemical constituents of the herb, so while the infused oil is not as strong as an essential oil, it is very effective. Medically, these oils are very healing. Herbal oils are used externally, massaged directly into the skin. Herbal oils are also the primary ingredient for making salves and creams. Oils are absorbed directly through the skin into the body. Infused oils are a lovely oil.

Our oils are made fresh every growing season. Most of these oils will last up to 3 years if kept cool and dark.
