A true cedar essential oil, Atlantic cedarwood’s sweet-and-spicy aroma make it a popular choice for perfume and cologne. Many know cedarwood as a plant-based insect repellent, but it does so much more. Cedarwood essential oil makes a great natural sedative, calming your mind and helping you relax so you sleep restfully. And like our other cedarwood oils, its strong decongestant and expectorant properties make this oil great for blends crafted to fight colds, ease painful coughing fits and relieve other respiratory issues. Because of its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, you might also find cedarwood helpful in reducing the pain of arthritis. Finally, a 1998 study showed that cedarwood atlas oil proved to be a safe and effective treatment for alopecia areata, a condition during which hair falls out, resulting in patches of baldness.
