PORTRAIT

You want to sleep through the night but it’s just not happening. Hippocrates recommended valerian root back around 400 BC for insomnia, and it’s been a go-to for sleep problems ever since. The aroma has been compared to the smell of stinky socks by some, and it is strong, so use it sparingly or in combination with other oils. Massage it into your feet or add it to a foot soak to bring peace and emotional calm as you prepare to sleep. Valerian has also been used for skin sores, eczema, and ulcers. By the way, cats respond to valerian the way they do to catnip!
